About Us

A Brief History of anti-trojan.org

We are an independent Software Review site based in the city of Auckland, New Zealand.

Jonathan Read, CISSP, was the original creator and trojan researcher for anti-trojan.org. This website initially started under the name "Secured" and when it began in 1997 it had information on only 12 trojans.

It was never really intended to get a lot bigger but new trojans kept appearing so the site just sort of grew.

That was over a decade ago now.

Jonathan went on to create the TDAT trojan database for Virus MD LLC and has often been consulted by media, government agencies and private investigation companies in regard to his trojan knowledge. He comments:

Over the years I have had emails from all sorts of people about my site including the American government, administrators of large ISP's and from hundreds of people just saying thank you for making such a site available to everyone.

In 2008 Jonathan relinquished ownership of anti-trojan.org to allow him to concentrate on his other internet business interests while he remains in a support role as an expert advisor. The most noticeable changes as a result of the new site administration has been the updating of the look and navigation of the site and making current some of the information (that requires frequent refreshing to keep up with developments in the ever changing world of internet malware.)

What we don't want to change is the motto that the site has always operated with–THE HELPFUL SECURITY SITE. Our goal is to continue to make the information at Anti-Trojan.org a comprehensive resource of defense and removal advice for computer trojans, adware, spyware, worms and viruses. In particular we want to be helpful and relevant to non technical computer users ( because the geeks usually know how to fix their own problems ! )
